HOW TO RESERVE A PUPPY
-
As experienced breeders, we offer a lot of information about our holistic standards, vaccinations, organic feeds, and the selection and care of your puppy. Please read as much information on this website as possible. This is important research every family should review before engaging with a breeder. It is easy to get overwhelmed, so take your time and study the information little by little. No matter which breeder you decide to use, our informations is helpful.
-
Please text Dan or Jenny Root with your questions and to schedule a screening interview. We will ensure that your family is a good match for a lovely Golden Retriever puppy. Phone numbers below. Every family is important to us, but during puppy season we are extremely busy with our fur babies, so please allow us 24 hours to return. you call or text.
-
To ensure every puppy is compatible with each family, we will have a lengthy conversation about our pups needs and your environment and preferences,
-
We will then invite you to visit to our ranch where you can meet our TRUE2GOLD family. You will be able interact with all of our breeding females, so you may decide which personality suits your family. Of course, if we have any puppies we invite you to play with them and get to know our healthy, smart fur-babies,
-
At this time you may ask questions and learn all about our lineage and the holistic standards we use to breed and raise our dogs that ensure the best possible puppy health. As far as humanly possible we give our pups the best start in life and teach you how to continue raising a cancer-free adult dog. Although we cannot guarantee that each puppy will not contract a cancer, we can assure you that when you follow our guidelines, your puppy will have the healthiest life possible. We are unable to supervise the care of our pups when they go home so we are not responsible for the pup's health. However, we stay in touch with all our families and we are always available to suggest how to navigate health issues if they arise. After 12 years of breeding over 500 pups, we only know of 4 cases of cancer.
-
Our health guarantee covers half of your pet insurance deductible within the first year of life, for any genetic condition. In the unfortunate situation that a rare genetic condition takes the life of your pup, we will replace the puppy in the next litter. In our 12 years and 500 pups, this has happened once..
-
Once approved, the deposit is 50%. This secures your place in line for puppy selections at 5 weeks old. DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
-
The full balance is due at 8 weeks old. This may be paid when you pick up your pup. If you are unable to take your puppy home at 8 weeks, you may leave your puppy with us for a fee of $50/day. The full balance will be due at 8 weeks old, even if your pup is staying longer with us,
AFTER PUPS ARE BORN:
We encourage families to visit the litter as early as 14 days old so that your family can enjoy the entire life of your puppy. Families are welcome to visit their puppy as much as possible. Puppies are a lot happier when they have bonded with their family prior to going home.
VOLUNTEERS
We have recently added a highly successful volunteer program for new owners where they can interact with their new puppies, starting at birth! We schedule 4-hour sessions, starting at the first week of life, for those interested in watching their puppies develop from the earliest stages onward.
PUPPY SELECTIONS AND GOING HOME
-
PUPPY SELECTIONS are organized at 5 weeks of age. The order of selection of your puppy is decided upon who pays their deposit first and which puppy is suitable for their family. We are very strict about this order. All of our puppies have similar personalities, so no-one will be getting a lesser pup at the end of the line! If you are particular about color, it is best to be in the first half of the selection process.
-
All shots, worming and puppy care is under the direction of our veterinarian. We order our vaccines directly from the manufacturer and our track record is exemplary. We have never had a puppy disease! Parvo is the most dangerous and is often fatal. distemper, flu and pnemonia are not as dangerous but very expensive to treat. Puppies may require and extra dose of worming after they get home. We suggest doing a fecal test at your first vet visit.
-
Puppy pick-up is scheduled after the pups are 8 weeks old.
-
AKC documents and health records are given and signed on the day of pick-up. Our pups are registered with the American Kennel Club and can be verified on the AKC website. We strongly suggest each family registers their puppy with AKC under their own name. we also suggest registering with the AKC lost and found program.
-
If you cannot take your puppy home at 8 weeks we can make arrangements to keep puppy here. This boarding period will be charged at a daily or weekly rate and may also include training, swimming lessons and harnessed walks. ASK FOR MORE DETAILS
-
It is the responsibility of each family to take puppy to their vet immediately, within 72 hours, in order to assure that every puppy is healthy from the start. We recommend making this appointment in advance. We suggest a fecal test be ordered to ensure that the bug Coccidia is not present. This is a normal kennel bug that can live undetected for months. It is eradicated with an additional round of worming medicine.
-
We will email every family a NEW PUPPY GUIDE to help with the immediate needs of your puppy, a list of poisons to be aware of and other helpful information.
